WILD WOMEN'S WEEKEND 2006

When:

May Long Weekend: 4 days - Friday May 19th to Monday May 22nd, 2006.

BRING WARM CLOTHES!
We are at a higher elevation bordering a lake, so it gets really chilly at nite! Tuque, gloves, scarf, warm socks & shoes... etc

Forecast: http://www.weather.ca/weather/cities/can/Pages/CABC0216.htm

Pictures from previous years can be found here: http://www.pbase.com/misc/www2k2 & http://www.pbase.com/misc/www2k3
And you might find pics here: http://ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/burninbabes/photos

What:
wild women's weekend
less about being "wild", more about being in the wild
it's rancho relaxo.
no pressure to do ANYTHING

We get the whole place to ourselves, the babes have been going there for 9 years, and the owner Jo has left us with the reins and taken off for the day / eve, coz she knows how good we are.

Cabins are full now, altho cabin #1 may have cancellations. If you are interested in it, please email flooozy at gmail dot com.

Otherwise, bring a tent & plushy things to keep you warm. Sometimes you can crash in someone's bed if you need to , coz not everyone is on the same skedule....

Neat little cabins to visit with other babes in them, trippy things every where, among really tall trees, right across the road on BirkenHead Lake, there is a dock where we sunbathe naked and wait for the train to roll by & scream at it at the top of our lungs. Big fire going to roast marshmallows and cook weiners on a stick, an incredibly delicious hot tub. some babes bring craft projects for other babes, some make amazing food platters.. Lots of spinning, and at nite, fire spinning 'til you can't do it anymore.

Where:

Birkenhead Resort - http://www.birkenheadresorts.bizland.com/ - 250-452-3255
Approximately 25 minutes from Mount Currie.
Go here to print map & instructions:
http://www.birkenheadresorts.bizland.com/printmap.html

The drive usually takes about 3 1/2 - 4 hrs from Van, depending on your travelling companions and vehicle peculiarities...

  • Go north on the Sea to Sky Hwy, through Squamish, through Whistler to Pemberton.

  • At Pemberton, keep to the right through the intersection at PetroCan/Shell station, heading north to Mt. Currie reserve, heading for D'Arcy. Please observe Speed Limit!      (Mt. Currie to Birken = about 25 min)
(Do not turn off to right at Mt Currie or you'll end up in Lillooet).

  • Birkenhead Resort is a red wooden store up a small dirt drive on your left, with Gates Lake down on your right. If you get to Birkenhead Provincial Park, you've gone too far, come back!

n.b. whoever gets to camp first is responsible for making sure there is NO BARREL on the fire pit!!!!

What's the setup? Central bathroom/shower buildings for everyone, (we use both the ladie's and men's), a hot tub, a dock across the road & train tracks where we often hang out when it's sunny, lotsa trees to hang your hamoc, hike around the forest, climb up to the glacier or just the falls, sit around the campfire and watch some babes spin some fire!
  • To find out who's all coming this year, login to the yahoogroup & look under databases. Here's what we know about cabins so far:
    Cabin 1. floozy & kat
Cabin 2. edie, abbe & squish
    Cabin 3. lisa & fireweed
    Cabin 4
. allison, shimmy, assy, gaynor & frances
Cabin 5. dani, gia, k8, erin, katia, jessica
Cabin 6. pinky, abel, colette, soraya, robyn, delyse, mollie!

  • All other ladies will camping / tenting. Tenting/camping is $15 per person per night, tax included.
  • In the past, tenters typically used Cabin #5 as their kitchen and main cooking space. Anyone is welcome to connect to Cabin #5, requested donation is $5/night, for use of cabin & kitchen facilities. Please contact daniprice at telus dot net to let her know you'd like to be connected to their cabin!
  • With all of the cabins being used, tenters now connect with whatever cabin their close associates are at, that way, the load is spread throughout the camp. Cabins other than #5 have their own rules, so talk to them directly if you'd like to connect with them as your home base.
How much? There are no tickets to WWW. The only thing we pay are cabin or tenting fees ($15 per person per night, tax included), plus potential contribution to whatever cabin you associate with, if you need the use of a kitchen. Then there's all the booze we drink, of course!
Things to bring:
  • camping gear / sleeping bag / pillow / blankets!
  • a chair to sit by the fire is very very important!
  • any music you want to share with us would be great. Shimmy usually brings her cd player and it is often a great time to hear new music or stuff you normally wouldn't listen to
  • any instruments if you have them. A lot of people bring drums. Think campfire jams.
  • a hamoc
  • in the past most tenters have cooked in the large cabin (it has a microwave, toaster, and stove) but with all the cabins being rented, the tenters now pair up with different cabins.
  • we have had some barbecues brought up as well in the past
  • someone has brought a blender, mandatory for fancy bevvies
  • talk with those in your car and work out some food stuff so you can share and we don't end up with a 25 loaves of bread
  • hard liquor & mix for the "boat fuel" - large cooler that we dump booze & mix into & get drunk on all weekend, facilitated by Lisa.
Activities! Sometimes, some of us bring stuff for the other babes to do. We've had flogger making with bicycle tubes and vibrating/falshlight handles by Dianamite, soldiering stuff & beads with Lori, duct tape bustiers by Tookie, batik by Susanne, flippy pants by Soraya, uv flag & poi making workshops, etc.
SATURDAY NIGHT THEME PARTY! While WWW is not a dress-up event, every year we discuss a theme for saturday night and encourage the ladies to dress up just for shits & giggles. The all-time winner is clearly Robin's trucker whore outfit from last year.. whoa! This year's theme is 80's! See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980s_fashion for some reference points!
Plus we will be celebrating Diana's engagement, having a stagette for her if you will!
CLOTHING SWAP!
Abel said:
i've got lots of clothes and burner gear to give away, so i'd like to organize a clothing swap area at www. so ladies, bring your clothes and
stuff you don't want anymore and it can go to a new home! i'm leaving sunday at noon, and will take anything left to a charity shop on the way.
lovabel
Several other babes concurred and said they'd also bring stuff! YAY! We can play dress-down & dress-up!
BATIK!

This year we have Susanne's Batik workshop again! YAY! It is CRUCIAL that you read the following to let Susanne know in advance what to order for you to batik!

Yes I'm bringing stuff for batiking to www. Here is info! What you'll need: -an idea & -a "blank"
What I'm bringing:
-everything else you'll need
-blanks that you've ordered and shipped to me or blanks that I already have (read below)

What makes a good "blank":
-something simple, especially if this is completely new to you.  (bandannas are the excellent starter thing I think - square and flat)
-COTTON OR RAYON or any NATURAL FIBER (not nylon or polyester etc. the dye won't take)
-preferably something sold "ready to dye" which means it has not been treated with any finishing anti-stain chemicals like some clothes and fabric items are now.
-anything else if you're not too attached to the color coming out exactly how you might expect or in a predictable manner. (maybe the color is a little different or the main fabric took the dye and none of the trim or thread did...)
-anything that isn't made of fabric that is too thick (typical cotton knit is pretty thick, rayon is really good, ask if you've got questions)

Where to get a "ready to dye blank": -http://www.dharmatrading.com
I'm sure there are other places, but I've not found anyplace as convenient and with such a selection.  You can browse and order yourself, or you can let me know what you'd like and I'll do a big order (i need some things too) a week or so before www.

-Last time I did this, several people asked me to order things for them that I already had in my bank of blanks.  So this time I just made a basic log of what I've already got and posted it here:
http://216.162.199.78/tweb/e107_plugins/autogallery/autogallery.php?show=Susanne%27s%20Blanks
(yes, i just snagged the pics from dharma)
If there is no price listed, it means they cost me less than a buck or two so I can just gift them.  Costs listed are what it cost me in usd.

WE NEED A POP-UP or something like that.  Something to be at least partway under in case of enough precipitation. Anyone?

I think thats it? Questions?
excited, Susanne

make your own didjeridu Hi everyone... this is me trying to calibrate to being home, catching up on email, starting school and having a new room mate.  Oh-ya, and
that thing about being engaged to Pi which now we actually have rings to illistrate said engagement - really cool steel rings, and I've met
his entire family so there is no turning back now.Anyway about this WWW thing coming up...

I've learned how to make cheap didjeridu's out of bamboo that costs about $15 at Micheal's Craft store (west Vancouver) and I have a
little Newcomers Guide that I could photo-copy for about $2 tops (so $17 all together) which tells how to start practicing the circular
breathing.  If anyone is interested making a cheap learning didj at WWW please email me directly at ediebabe@gmail.com subject line
DIDJERIDU by this Saturday morning - sorry for the short notice but its when I have a ride to the craft store in question so get it while
its hot as they say.  That is all I have time for now - on my way to bb-sit.

I will bring the bamboo, copies of beginner book and the tools.  You would bring anything you want to use to decorate your new made thing
with and lotsa patience for me who has never taught this to anyone before and for yourself if you don't yet know how to circular breath.

Lisa's BOAT FUEL!

Some of you have been inquiring, so yes I will be brining the beginnings of boat fuel as my annual contribution to WWW.  Generally, I start out with a bottle of vodka, a bottle of gin, some pink lemonades and some sprite.

For those of you wanting to add to it, please bring clear booze (i.e. gin or vodka) clear pop (i.e. 7 up, sprite, soda) fruit juices and lemonades.  Fruit flavoured liquors, i.e. contreau, cherry brandy, etc.

Those are yoru guidelines.  As you all know, it all goes in eventually anyway!
